[Edwards, CO] – Dr. Erik Dorf has earned an additional certification known as the Subspecialty Certificate in Surgery of the Hand. This acknowledgement is reserved for Board certified orthopaedic surgeons who have demonstrated qualifications in hand surgery beyond those expected of other hand surgeons by virtue of additional training, a diverse and complex practice and ongoing contributions to the field. In addition to continued dedication to the practice of hand surgery applicants must pass an examination administered by the Joint Committee on Surgery of the Hand that is designed to evaluate the candidate's cognitive knowledge relevant to this complex field.

A Vail native, Dr. Dorf specializes in surgery of the upper extremity, including disorders of the shoulder, elbow, wrist and hand. Dr. Dorf joined Vail-Summit Orthopaedics in 2008 after completing 10 years of training, which culminated with an upper extremity fellowship at Wake Forest University.

“Eagle and Summit County patients are fortunate to have such a highly qualified hand surgeon in their midst,” states VSO CEO Chip Webb. “This certification required a lot of work, practice focus and submission of evidence to show qualifications above and beyond what is expected of other orthopaedic surgeons.”
