What time does the 2022 NHL Draft start? What TV channel is the draft on? The 2022 NHL Draft begins Thursday, July 7 (7/7/2022) at 7 p.m. ET on ESPN, and can be streamed live on DirecTV Stream, fuboTV, ESPN+ and other live TV streaming services. Round 2 of the draft continues at 11 p.m. ET on Friday, July 8 on the NHL Network and ESPN+. The Montreal Canadiens pulled the No. 1 overall pick in May’s NHL Draft Lottery, after finishing the 2021-22 NHL season with an abysmal 22-49-11 record. They’ll have their pick of top players like Finland’s Juraj Slafkovský, Canada’s Shane Wright or U.S. National Under-18 star Logan Cooley. The Buffalo Sabres have three picks in the first round and 11 total. After Buffalo makes its first selection - currently slated for ninth overall - tune in to the team's official Facebook page for live reaction from Sabres broadcasters Brian Duff and Martin Biron at Bell Centre. Over the past few weeks, Sabres.com has been working to get you ready for the draft with preview articles and videos. If you've missed anything, we're compiling it for you right here. So without further ado, here's what you need to know. 2022 NHL Draft Preview Show Let Brian Duff and Martin Biron guide you through Buffalo's options in the first round with our four-part video series. After two seasons of being held virtually because of the pandemic, the NHL draft is going back to being an in-person event on Thursday night. The last-place Montreal Canadiens are both the host of the draft and hold the first overall pick. That last happened in 1985 when the Toronto Maple Leafs drafted Wendel Clark. Center Shane Wright of the Ontario Hockey League's Kingston Frontenacs is projected to be the No. 1 overall pick, though Slovakian Olympic bronze medalist Juraj Slafkovsky, who plays for Finland's TPS Turku, also is receiving some sentiment. For those with cable subscriptions, that will be a piece of cake. However, cord-cutters looking for the draft may need a bit of assistance as they scramble to see whether their streaming services have both ESPN and the NHL Network at their disposal. How can you live stream the NHL Draft in 2022? Here's a breakdown of which streaming services have and don't have the networks you need to watch every selection. 2022 NHL Draft live stream Date: July 7-8 Location: Bell Centre, Montreal, Quebec First round start time: 7 p.m. ET, Thursday, July 7 Rounds 2-7 start time: 11 a.m. ET, Friday, July 8 Live stream: ESPN+, SN Now (in Canada) TV channel: ESPN, NHL Network, Sportsnet, TVA Sports Montreal will be looking at one of two prospects — either Kingston C Shane Wright or Slovakian W Juraj Slafkovsky. Wright has been the most likely to go No. 1 overall for just about the entire draft cycle. Slafkovsky was able to climb boards due to his performances in international play against tough competition. On DraftKings Sportsbook, Wright is the favorite to go No. 1 overall at -200. Slafkovsky is up to +115 to go with the first pick after many believed Wright would be the sure-fire pick. TSN’s Bob McKenzie released his mock draft last week and had Slafkovsky going first overall. Bobby Margarita is rarely wrong when he’s predicting who will go No. 1 and he’s easily the most plugged in NHL reporter out there. That isn’t to say he won’t be wrong. His track record is eye-opening, though. gfgfdg
