When Should I Consult an Orthopaedic Trauma Specialist?

Traumatic injuries most often involve fractures and multiple injuries, such as those sustained in the following:
In the majority of cases, orthopaedic trauma is immediately obvious. While the orthopaedic trauma injuries may not be life-threatening, they are almost always life-changing. Due to their dynamic nature, immediate evaluation and treatment is typically required.
Orthopaedic injuries that require specialized orthopaedic care include:

My son had a snowboarding accident resulting in open fractures of both the ulna and radius on his right arm. The on-call VSON doctor met us in the ER. During the surgery, he took the time to call me on my cell and give me updates. Immediately after surgery, he handed me x-rays of my son's plated arm.
One month after the injury/surgery, my son is healing extremely well. He is already looking forward to snowboarding next year.
I would strongly recommend the orthopaedic trauma docs at Vail-Summit Orthopaedics & Neurosurgery.
