VSON in Negotiations to Sell Clinics in Gunnison and San Miguel Counties

Vail, Colorado – January 31, 2024 – Vail-Summit Orthopaedics & Neurosurgery (VSON) is currently negotiating with Gunnison Valley Hospital (GVH) to transfer ownership of its VSON Alpine practices in Gunnison and San Miguel Counties, which include clinic locations in Gunnison, Crested Butte, Telluride CO, and the ambulatory surgery center in Gunnison, CO.

VSON Alpine (formerly Alpine Orthopaedics) was founded by Dr. Beim in 1999. Dr. Beim and her team would work in tandem with GVH to ensure patients receive the highest possible care.

"The decision to sell VSON Alpine in Gunnison, Crested Butte, and Telluride was not made lightly," said VSON CEO Chris Greenman. "However, at the end of the day, we believe that practicing under the GVH umbrella will allow Dr. Beim more opportunities to partner with local providers and provide a continuum of care for her patients.

GVH also intends to buy out the practice and the property in Gunnison, both of which VSON owns entirely. If the offer is accepted, GVH will own the building and practice on West Spencer Avenue, but only the practice in Crested Butte, which VSON leases.

“Bringing Dr. Beim under the GVH umbrella will bump the number of in-house orthopedic surgeons up from one to two and bring more unity to the healthcare system in Gunnison.” said hospital CEO Jason Amrich.

VSON will continue to own and operate its Eagle, Summit, and Grand County clinics, providing comprehensive care to mountain communities on the Western Slope.

“VSON has eight orthopedic surgeons, two physical medicine and rehabilitation doctors, and one neurosurgeon operating out of Eagle, Summit, and Grand Counties, all of whom understand the importance of providing large-scale services in a small-town environment,” Greenman said. “We are all united in supporting Dr. Beim, GVH, and the Gunnison community and are dedicated to ensuring a sale that first and foremost benefits patient care."
